Air Show Shuttle Parking at MidAmerica Airport
MASCOUTAH, IL (May 19, 2000) -- MidAmerica Airport is expected to again be teeming with people and planes in a few weeks.
The airport will be available as a shuttle bus parking lot for Scott Air Force Base's air show and open house June 3-4.
The St.Clair County Building Commission on Thursday decided to allow the base to use the lot.
Airport Director Rick Hargrove said parking will be free at the airport lot, but it will cost $1.25 per person for a round-trip ride on a BiState shuttle bus.
The air show is the first at Scott Air Force Base in three years. The formerly annual event had to be canceled in the past largely because of construction of the airport and the renovation of the runway at the Air Force base.
The 12th Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon Demonstration Team, based at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, will perform both days of the show, base officials announced last week.
Also scheduled to appear is the Army's Golden Knights parachute team. And for the first time at Scott, an F-117A Nighthawk stealth fighter will be on ground display.
