MidAmerica Airport Due Payments
MASCOUTAH, IL (May 25, 2000) -- Tower Air flew a military charter to MidAmerica Airport and owes the airport more than $16,000. The airport's first tenant, Langa Air, owes $5,600.
Although Tower Air declared bankruptcy in February, airport director Rick Hargrove said MidAmerica Airport officials have filed claims for payment in court and expect to get what the airport is owed for fuel and other services from the November military charter flight.
Poor sales forced Langa Air to close its satellite operation - fueling and servicing light planes - out of MidAmerica Airport. The company ran up a bill of $5,600 and is paying $1,000 a month, according to the airport.
Hargrove said the airport does business with 20 to 30 aviation companies and said they pay their bills promptly.
MidAmerica has spent $2.3 million against revenues of $330,000 - most of that from farmland leases and fuel sales.
