Additional Flights Scheduled For MidAmerica Airport
Pan American Adds Pittsburgh PA, Portsmouth NH
MASCOUTAH (August 12, 2000) - As the big day nears for the first commuter flight to leave MidAmerica Airport, the airport's only carrier, Pan American Airways, is adding two new destinations to its schedule. The airline initially was to fly from MidAmerica Airport to Sanford, Florida, in the Orlando area, and Gary, Indiana, near Chicago.
The change, effective August 19, adds service from MidAmerica Airport to Pittsburgh and to Portsmouth, N.H., in the Boston area.
The additional destinations will reduce the frequency of flights from MidAmerica to the Gary/Chicago Airport, but the flights to and from Sanford, Florida, will not be affected.
One-way fares will begin at $146 for Pittsburgh arid $121 for Portsmouth.
In early 2001, the airline also is planning to add Jet Stream turboprop aircraft to its air service at MidAmerica Airport. Jet Stream flights are planned to Branson, Missouri, and Detroit.
The new MidAmerica-to-Gary schedule provides for a 3:15 p.m. daily departure from MidAmerica Airport, with a 4:10 p.m. arrival at Gary-Chicago, and a daily return flight to MidAmerica to leave Gary-Chicago at 10:35 a.m. and arrive at 11:30 a.m. Passengers on these flights can continue on to Pittsburgh or Portsmouth through Gary-Chicago.
Pan Am's first flight from MidAmerica Airport will depart at 7 a.m. Wednesday (August 16). The flight is scheduled to return from Gary-Chicago at 9:15 a.m.
Pan Am's first flight to Sanford will depart at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday.
