PanAm Flights In Demand For Thanksgiving Weekend
PanAm Booking More People Than Expected
Belleville, IL (November 13, 2000) -- PanAm flights will be as crowded as they've ever been over the upcoming Thanksgiving weekend, the airline said Friday.
The airline's flight from Orlando to MidAmerica St. Louis Airport in Mascoutah will leave Florida with no seats to spare the Sunday after the holiday, said Dan Fortnam, a PanAm spokesman.
"That's going to be the best run we've had yet," said Fortnam about the flight. "That day alone is roughly three times the revenue volume and passenger volume we typically get -- it's a record."
Fortnam said the airline is offering additional flights on other routes because of high demand, but cannot add flights to or from MidAmerica St. Louis Airport because all the carrier's airplanes are committed elsewhere.
In other airline news, PanAm officials said they are booking more people than they expected, about 12 a day, for the connecting service from MidAmerica to Allentown, Pa. Those flights will start operating today. Passengers will have a stopover at Gary-Chicago Airport in Northwest Indiana en route, but no change of plane is required.
"We weren't expecting to see a whole lot of traffic (this quickly)," Fortnam said, adding that the airline is booking the same number of tickets per day for travel from MidAmerica St. Louis to Portsmouth, N.H., which is near Boston.
