Fence To Be Completed At MidAmerica Airport
BELLEVILLE, IL (June 22, 2001) -- A Granite City company will install a fence to keep deer and other animals from running into airplanes at MidAmerica St. Louis Airport, thanks to a contract approved by the St. Clair County Public Building Commission at its meeting on Thursday.
Granite Inc. will construct the fence at a maximum cost of $215,329. The 12-foot tall fence will connect the two ends of the existing security fence.
Floyd "Rick" Hargrove, the director of MidAmerica Airport, said construction could begin in early September, and he hopes the fence will be up in October.
