Brief News Notes
Flashing Lights Part Of Police Training
MidAmerica Airport, Illinois (August 8, 2001) -- The flashing lights seen Tuesday night at MidAmerica St. Louis Airport were caused by police officers practicing traffic stops.
Through a 10-week course at Southwestern Illinois College, new police officers use the airport to simulate scenarios they might encounter on the job. The main road of the airport is used to train these officers because of lack of traffic there.
Exhibit approved for MidAmerica Airport
Belleville, Illinois (August 17, 2001) -- The St. Clair County Public Building Commission on Thursday approved the purchase of a new trade show exhibit booth to promote MidAmerica St. Louis Airport.
The booth, made by Skyline Inc., will feature with display boards designed by O'Connor and Partners.
The booth will cost $12,095. The graphics by O'Connor will cost $2,585.
County Administrator Dan Maher told the commission the booth will appear at three or four trade shows a year.
The booth will promote air cargo and maintenance repair and overhaul at the airport.
"If we want to change how we operate, we need to project a better image," Maher said.
The booth should be delivered in time for a trade show in Miami in late October.
