TransMeridian Airlines Service To Sanford, FL And Puerto Rico

MidAmerica Airport, Illinois (April 29, 2005) -- MidAmerica Airport is adding a second passenger airline to its flight plan.
TransMeridian Airlines, of Lithia Springs, Ga., last fall launched charter passenger service to Sanford International Airport near Orlando, Florida, from MidAmerica. It also offers flights to San Juan Puerto Rico.
This month, Allegiant Air LLC of Las Vegas will offer flights between the metro-east and it's gambling Mecca home base in Nevada.
TransMeridian tickets are available by calling 1-866-I-fly-TMA or by using the company's Internet site, www.transmeridian-airlines.com.
Allegiant announced it would kick off the flights April 29 with fares starting as low as $49 for those who book their travels on the company's website, www.allegiantair.com.
Meanwhile, Lambert-St. Louis International Airport remains the region's major airport. One good way to get from one airport to the next is via the MetroLink light-rail system.
According to Metro director of communications Dianne Williams, passengers should allow about an hour to make the trip by rail from the Memorial Hospital station in Belleville to the Lambert Main Terminal station.
"The length of the trip could vary a little bit, depending on what time of day it is," Williams said. "So you should give yourself a little bit of extra time."
Overnight parking is available at the Fifth and Missouri, Emerson Park, Washington Park, Fairview Heights, Swansea, Belleville, College and Shiloh/Scott Air Force Base stations. Cars are allowed to park in overnight spots for a maximum of 14 days.
Other plans for development and expansion at MidAmerica Airport were announced recently.
In March, St. Clair County leaders introduced MidAmerica Land & Development LLC, a group of regional developers and transportation executives with ambitious plans for the airport.
They include building a hotel, conference center, office park, truck stop and about 900 acres of industrial support services and transportation infrastructure.
